Stories drawn from life
Alongside Out of the Cold, I have continued to write short non-fiction stories based on real experiences, relationships, faith and the lessons we sometimes discover through difficult or unexpected seasons.
Since 2017, eight of my stories have been published in the Stories of Life anthologies. Each publication encouraged me to keep writing and helped build my confidence as an author.

We Met on Strava
When neither of us expected to find love again, my husband Dave and I met through the fitness app Strava while living 10,000 miles apart.
What began as an interest in each other’s cycling grew into daily phone calls, long Skype conversations and eventually a proposal. Dave arrived in Adelaide just four days before our wedding, and after a period of travelling between Australia and America, he eventually made Australia home.

The Circle of Love
The Circle of Love reflects on the final years of my mother’s life and my realisation that she had never experienced unconditional love.
As I cared for her, I began to understand our relationship differently. At the age of fifty-four, I told her, “I love you,” and for the first time in my life she replied, “I love you too.”

The Long Road
The Long Road tells the story of my struggle with alcohol and the conflict I experienced as a Christian while still living with addiction.
It is an honest account of shame, faith, frustration and the journey that eventually led me towards freedom.

What I’m writing now
I have also submitted a new short story, His Perfect Timing, which reflects on the ways I have seen God’s hand at work in my life, particularly through two of my daughters’ chronic illnesses.
I am currently waiting to find out if it will be selected for publication in a future Stories of Life anthology.
Short-form writing continues to give me the opportunity to explore real experiences, find meaning in them and hopefully leave readers with something that stays with them.
